Monthly Meetings
Meetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday at 7 PM of each month. Please call 478-719-0828 or 478-952-8166 for information regarding location or changes. Meetings are generally held in the Macon/Warner Robins/Byron/Centerville area. However, we are always looking for new locations and therefore are completely open to any suggestions. If you have any, please don't hesitate to contact Linda Smyth.
It should be noted that on some months when a special event is falling close to a monthly meeting date, we combine the two events and have a quick meeting at the event. (15 minute tops). We are also trying to include some Saturday Lunch meetings, usually as a Drive and Dine just to help cover the people that can't make a Tuesday meeting due to a regular conflict.
Driving Events
SCCA Autocross:
On September 21st we are going to see just how many Porsches we can get to show up at our friends the SCCA's Autocross at Henderson Stadium. We have decided that for the time being, we will pick several specific dates on their calendar to support en Mass, rather than trying to compete by having our own autocross. As you all know, without there generous particiaption over the last several years, we would have had a very difficult time pulling off the events we enjoyed. Many thanks go out to them for the help, and we want to return the favor if we can. So come on out and heat up some tires!
Fall Drive through the Leaves :
Brad Boardwell is heading of the effort to have a weekend drive in the mountains. (Sat Nov 1st, noon to Sun noon) It will be a overnight stay so we will be locking in the arrangements very soon. Please let Brad know if you plan to attend. Depending on the response, (and so far it looks great), we will either be staying at Rymond Smith's cabin in Dahlonega (sleeps 10), or a larger facility. The deadline for letting Brad know your intentions is the meeting on September 8th at Zen's Japanese Steakhouse in Warner Robins. Brad's E-mail is turbobrat930@cox.net.
Do you love to drive your Porsche? In the Ocmulgee Region, we focus not only on driving for pleasure in non-competitive social events, but also on improving your driving skills through a performance driving school, with training and instruction available at several competitive events.
TRACK EVENTS
These events are for the driver, they range from beginning Drivers Education to full-fledge PCA Club Races. They are an adrenaline rush to satisfy even the most daring.
STREET EVENTS
Fun-packed and more family-oriented these events however are not in any sense ordinary. They require the utmost attention to detail and an accute sense of direction. These events include Rallys of many different flavors, car shows, Porsche Caravans and weekend excursions.
AUTOCROSS
Autocrossing involves negotiating a pre-designed closed course, marked by soft plastic cones, in a large parking lot. Autocrossing is a safe, inexpensive way to learn to drive at the limits of a car. You'll need a Snell '95 or better helmet. If you'd like to see what one of these events is all about, then click on this video link to see a quick video trailer of one of our PCA Autocrosses. To experience what it is like to drive one of these events, buckle your seatbelt and sit in the drivers seat of SCCA's Chuck Bloodworth, as he shot in-car video footage at one of our events.
